The rich textural and tactile quality of Herman’s mail art is part of the theatre of his beautiful work. These are stories steeped in time and in context. I feel a tide of Europe washing over me, making me long for its layered history. Cast off paper, frontis pieces and marbled loveliness set a mood, at once confessional and authoritative, but also full of humour.
Love your posts about mail art! They are wonderful reading!
